Nonlinear Narrative Final I have to admit, it took me a while to find the perfect theme for this project. I knew I wanted to focus on journey or place for sure, and then it hit me! The journey: myself. The place: Dillon. This nonlinear narrative collection is about my journey these past few years of trying to make Dillon, MT feel like home. When I came to school here, I felt a little lost. For a long time it was like I was in limbo and I didn't feel like I belonged anywhere. I struggled a lot with my mental health and for a while I was struggling to just get up everyday. It took me awhile to find good people to be around, and places that made me feel safe. Four years later, I am still finding myself. I know I won't be in Dillon all my life, but I have made incredible friends and experienced amazing things. I have managed to build myself a community here to the point where I know that I am going to miss it when I leave.  These are photos of places and things that remind me of ...

Expanded Portrait For this photo, I chose the portrait of myself to edit. I placed a fish mural in the background from my downtown photos and then placed a solid color in the back of everything so that the image itself wouldn't be transparent. Then I lowered the opacity of the mural to make is look faded. Next, I added my pumice stone photo to make it have a bubble/water effect, which I also lowered the opacity of. Lastly, I attempted to blur my cutout outlines and added vignette at the end. I found this project extremely challenging for me. I haven't used any kind of software to edit photos like this at all. I am not in love with how this turned out, but it was an incredible way to learn. I definitely learned so much during this process, so that's a win in my book! Now I have a good start for the next time I want to do something like this!

Window Light Portraits Self Portrait Again, I wanted to challenge myself. I hadn't used the self timer and the multiple photo settings. For this picture above, I set the camera to wait 10 seconds, and then take five photos with three seconds in between. So I added a second photo to kind of show this process. For editing, I basically just wanted to push the warmth on these photos and tweak the contrast. Story   This is my mothers puppy Story. She is my mom's pride and joy. Unfortunately a huge thunderstorm went overhead during this shoot so its very dark. I tried to challenge my editing skills to edit more light in, but make it look natural.  Rheanna These three photos above are of my niece Rheanna. She is my little sidekick. It was an incredible pleasure to watch her grow up. These photos are in two different locations. The top location was east facing, so the sun was way over to the west, which left us with a darker looking photo. The bottom two are in buildings with west fac...
